The Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, which was held in Lagos on Sunday night may have been successful, but may not have left a found memory for Nigerian singer, Seyi Shay who fell on stage while performing her latest song, “Yolo Yolo”.
Nigerian singer and songwriter, Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua, popularlu known as Seyi Shay, on Sunday night, slipped and fell on stage while performing her hit track, ‘Yolo Yolo’ at the just concluded AFRIMA 2017 award night in Lagos.
While dancing on the stage set up at the prestigious Eko Hotel Convention Centre in Lagos, Seyi, dressed in a black pants and jacket in a light material and a cape, slipped as she moved on the stage.
Though, she deftly stood up and calmly continued her performance which was backed up by four dancers. Seyi would however, say ‘the devil is a liar’ as she completed her performance.
Seyi Shay, whose fall as gone viral, was described by many as showing professionalism, by her quick composure after the accident, as she was among the first set of performers on the night.
Wizkid and Tiwa Savage who were announced as Best Male Artiste Western Africa and Best Female Artiste Western Africa respectively were, conspicuously absent at the event as their awards were picked up by their representatives.
As the video went viral and kept the social media buzzing with mixed reactions, the singer took to her Instagram page to react to the moment she slipped on stage.
She wrote; “The show is broadcast live on Dstv and Gotv channels.”
